Ladbrokes updated the market for the four months ended 30 April 2008. The company said that profits* (excluding profits* from High Rollers) had increased by 13%, with gross win increasing by 16% (34% including High Rollers). Profit from High Rollers was £40 million but Ladbrokes said that their activity had recently fallen to de minimis levels.

British online gaming company 888 Holdings Plc said its second-quarter operating income rose 36 percent, helped by growth in casino gaming revenues, and its chief executive told Reuters the group is mulling takeovers. Online gaming firm 888 reported a 24 percent rise in total operating income to $68 million (46 million pounds) in the third quarter. Despite external adverse economic conditions we are confident in our business model and strategy,” said Chief Executive Gigi Levy in a statement. In August the company reported a 39 percent increase in its first-half pretax profit, boosted by a strong performance from new products.

888, Britain’s second-biggest listed Internet gaming group, 888 had 214,725 active customers using its online casino and poker games in the second quarter, up 3 percent on the same period last year, the company said.
